USING CLIENT ACCESS/400-RUMBA KEYBOARD(S)

? What does this option do? ➤ This option designs, changes or edit your PC
keyboard for when you are signed onto the IBM AS/400 via Rumba in Windows 3.1,
3.11 or Win95.
☞ A powerful customization option you have when accessing the AS/400 via
Rumba/400 Software is selecting a style of keyboard and designating certain key
combinations to correspond to the 5250 keyboard equivalent functions. This is
commonly referred to as Keyboard Mapping.
☞ Once you have made your key assignments, you can save the keyboard layout in a
*.MAP file. The keyboard map can be printed as well. You can save the layout as
part of a session profile, and open previously prepared keyboards for use in
your Sign-on screens.
☛ The following keyboards are supported by (but not necessarily limited to)
Rumba:
➥ Enhanced 101 key Keyboard (PC Computers)
➥ Enhanced 104 key Keyboard (PC Computers)
➥ 84 Key Keyboard (Notebook Computers)
➥ AT Style Keyboards
➥ IBM PS/2 122 Key (Must have installed the IBM keyboard driver to use).
Using the Rumba Keyboard Editor
1. From the Client Access Options Menu click once on the Keyboard icon. The
keyboard mapping screen will prompt.
2. From the File menu, choose New. Select the type of keyboard that you wish to
program and then click on OK.
3. Proceed to map your keyboard. Keep in mind that some keys are reserved for
System use and cannot be changed.
4. When finished click on Close. You will be prompted to Save the File, click on
yes. Next, key the name of the file and then click on OK. You will be returned
to the Display Screen.
Running Rumba on Win 3.1 or 3.11
Rumba/400 Printer Set-up
Running a PC printer on the AS/400 can be a valuable tool for extending your
Printing Capabilities. There are several steps to setting up, running and
working with PC Printers. Your PC is capable of up to 64 Rumba Sign-on sessions
and 10 Printer sessions (dependent on RAM memory; PCs with little available RAM
will be limited on the number of virtual sessions).
How to Set-up a new RUMBA/400 Printer
1. Turn-on your PC and go into windows.
2. Sign-on the AS/400 on at least one session.
3. Go to the Program Manager.
4. Open the Rumba/400 window.
5. Double click on the “Printer” icon. The “RUMBA/400 Printer - (Untitled)
screen” will open.
