Problem Types

The cash drawer quit opening

• Check the cable from the cash receipt printer to the cash drawer

My keys are locked in the cash drawer

2 possible solutions

• Most cash drawers can be opened by unscrewing the bottom right (sometimes left) rear then reaching for the pop switch.
  • Opening this way requires removing 1-2 screws on the bottom
  • next pull down slightly the exposed corner of the cash drawer
  • finally reach in from the underside and press the open toggle switch. This will kick the drawer open.
• Call a lock smith

The cash drawer has never opened

• Check the cash drawer cable
  • Unplug, inspect and plug back in the cable from the cash receipt printer to the cash drawer
  • Is the cable from the cash receipt printer to the cash drawer plugged in backwards?
  • Is the cable broken, frayed or in any way damaged?
  • Is the correct cable plugged into the cash drawer?
    REGULAR PHONE CABLES WILL NOT WORK!
• Check the system configuration (MU 2 (p.1a), MU 2 (p. 5), MU 6)
  • MU 2 Page 1a - is the system set to print cash receipts?
    FORCE CASH SALE TO INVOICE FORM . . . . . . . . . N << MUST BE 'N'

  • MU 2 Page 5 terminal workstation settings - is the correct printer assigned?
    Check what each screen session is assigned
    
  • MU 6 - Is the printer configuration correct?
    COMPRESS PRINT . . . . . . . . 1B7030 << any other setting probably won't work
    DOUBLE WIDTH CHARACTERS . . . . 9999 << any other setting probably won't work
    NORMAL WIDTH CHARACTERS . . . . 000000
