Brief Description for answering a file lock message

  • Find the message with 'wrkactjob
  • Find the user causing the lock 7 (messages), F10 (more details), F18 (bottom)
  • Have the user sign off/on
  • Answer the message with a 'r' (retry)

Checking for a file lock

  • Is there an error message in Work with Active Jobs (Esc 18, 'WRKACTJOB')
  • Type a '7' to answer the message then see what the error is.
  • Press F10 to see additional details
  • Press F18 to see the bottom of the message details
  • This indicates that user 'KEVC' on workstation 'K1' has a file lock.
  • Have the indicated user sign off the system then answer the original message with a 'R' to retry.
