How to pull data into Excel 2002 or higher

Excel Import Software Requirements

  1. Excel 2002 or higher
  2. IBM Client Access user or administration rights
    MU 17, 4 Client Access User Enrollment or
    MU 19, 16
    Client Access Administrator Enrollment
  3. IBM Client Access software version 4 release 5 or higher (V4R5)
  4. This software may work on excel 2000 or below, Lotus 1-2-3 and/or Quattro Pro but IBS will not support any other software package or MS version prior to Excel 2002.

How to pull data into Excel 2002 or higher

  1. Open MS Excel
  2. Start a blank worksheet
  3. Click on Data
  4. Click on Transfer Data from iSeries
  5. Click on Create new
  6. Click on OK
  7. Type in your main server ip address
  8. Click on Next
  9. Type in ibs400f
  10. Click on Browse
  11. Click on the file you want to pull into excel
  12. Click on Select
    • the file should appear under selected files and members
    • for example: IBS400F/GLD
  13. Click on OK
  14. Click on Next
  15. Click on Next again
  16. If you want to save this data import file request for present & future use type in a file name
    • This option permits you to pull the data fresh every time the worksheet is opened
  17. Click on finish
  18. All data fields should populate with the requested information
