Document Title
Changing the Attention Light Behavior on Standalone Non-HMC
Managed IBM® POWER5® Systems
Document Description
Notes:
| 1 |
The function described in this
document is applicable only to IBM® POWER5® systems that are
not HMC-managed. This
function should not
be used on an HMC-managed system because unpredictable results may
follow. |
| 2 |
At this time, there is no equivalent
function for HMC-managed systems. The attention indicator issue is under
review. |
| 3 |
The function described in this
document changes the way the attention indicator behaves. The behavior
is similar to the behavior on pre-POWER5 systems with some important
differences:
- Certain system down scenarios may not have an
attention indicator associated with them; for example, A6 reference
codes including DASD attention (A6xx0255
A6xx0266)
and lost console (A6005001 A6005004 A9002000). |
To change the attention light behavior of your standalone
system, do the following:
| 1 |
Load and apply MF33870 or the current
superseding PTF. |
| 2 |
From an IBM® i5/OS™ command line,
type STRSST
and press the Enter key. |
| 3 |
Sign on SST with a service tools user
ID that has Display/Alter/Dump capability. |
| 4 |
Select Option 1, Start a service
tool, and press the Enter key. |
| 5 |
Select Option 4, Display/Alter/Dump,
and press the Enter key. |
| 6 |
Select Option 1, Display/Alter
storage, and press the Enter key. |
| 7 |
Select Option 2, Licensed Internal
Code (LIC) data, and press the Enter key. |
| 8 |
Select Option 14, Advanced analysis,
and press the Enter key. |
| 9 |
On the
Select Advanced Analysis Command screen,
type 1
in the option column next to the blank line. On the blank line in the
command column, type
AIRESET. Press the Enter key. |
| 10 |
On the
Specify Advanced Analysis Options screen
specify -ON
to enable the changed attention indicator behavior.
Note:
Once enabled, the function can be disabled using the
-OFF
parameter.
Press the Enter key. |
